Trail (49°5′42″N, 117°42′36″W) is a town in the Kootenay region of the interior of British Columbia, Canada. It is the seat of the Kootenay Boundary Regional District.
Trail has an area of 34.78 square kilometers.
Teck Cominco, starting operations in Trail in 1902, operates a smelter, producing zinc, copper, and gold and it is the largest private employer in Trail. Children living in Trail are monitored for lead content in their blood after studies showed elevated soil lead concentration and house dust lead concentration. The monitoring program, called The Lead Task Force was jointly funded by Cominco, the City of Trail, the BC Ministry of Health, and the BC Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks.
