Soacha

Soacha is a municipality in Colombia on the southern edge of Bogotá. It has an important industrial zone and it is home to mostly working families. Soacha became famous when the presidential candidate Luis Galan was assassinated while visiting the city during his campaign.

Soacha has among its industries the manufacturing of weapons. The nationally owned factory of armament Jose Maria Cordova where the manufacturing of the Galil rifle and some other handguns takes place, is located at two miles away of one of the biggest Soacha's townships.
