Shibarghan

Shibarghan is a town situated in Afghanistan. Its population in 2006 is 57,586.

In 1977 a Soviet-Afghan archaeological team began serious excavations three miles north of the town for relics. They had uncovered mud-brick columns and a cross-shaped altar of an ancient temple dating back to at least 1000 B.C.
