San Cristóbal

San Cristóbal is the capital of the Dominican Republic province of San Cristóbal, founded in the late 16th century. The first Dominican constitution was signed there in 1844, and Rafael Trujillo, president/dictator from 1930 to 1961, was born there in 1891. It had a population of 88,376 as of July 1993.
