Rafaela

Rafaela is a city in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, about 96 km from the provincial capital. It is the head town of the Castellanos Department. It has a population of 83,642 inhabitants and an area of 156 km². (2001 census [INDEC])

The town was founded in 1881 by Guillermo Lehmann, and officially became a city in 1913.

The Mayor of Rafaela as of 2005 is Omar Perotti, of the Justicialist Party.
