Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña (normally known as Sáenz Peña) is a city in Chaco Province, northern Argentina. It is the second largest city of the province. It's located 170 kilometres (105 miles) WNW of the provincial capital Resistencia, on the main rail and road route across northern Argentina to Salta. Sáenz Peña was founded in 1912 and has developed as a commercial and industrial centre serving the surrounding agricultural region of the Gran Chaco plains. The city has a population of 76,794 (2001 census [INDEC]).
