Pogradec (Albanian: Pogradec or Pogradeci) is one of the southeastern cities of Albania. It is the capital of the District of Pogradec, in the County of Korçë, located at 40.87°N and 20.70°E with a population of around 24,000 (2004 est). The demographic distribution records a typical indigenous mixture, mostly of Albanians and ethnic Slavs (from whom the name Pogradec is derived), often claimed by the Macedonian government. The city lies along the well-known Lake Ohrid and is surrounded by hills on the southern and western side; the lake is in the eastern and northern side of the city. The highway linking to Tirana, Elbasan and Korçë runs through Pogradec.
Its location is SE of Elbasan, SW of Ohrid in the Macedonia, WNW of Florina in Greece and N of Korçë.
