Namp'o (North Korean official spelling: Nampho) is a city and seaport in South P'yÅ?ngan Province, North Korea. It was a provincial-level Directly Governed City (Chikhalsi) from 1980 to 2004, when it was designated a "Special City" (T'ÅkkÅpsi) and made a part of South P'yÅ?ngan.

Namp'o is situated some 50 kilometres south west of P'yÅ?ngyang, at the mouth of the Taedong River. It is a modern port city on the west coast. It began to develop into a modern port after liberation in 1945. With the rapid increase in state investment, the city's industries grew and it now has powerful heavy industries and modern light industries. Originally a small fishing village, it was opened as a foreign trade port in 1897, and is Pyongyang’s harbour in Yellow Sea. Namp'o has modern harbour facilities; it can accept freighters of up to 10,000 tons and is a DPRK shipbuilding industry center. North of the city is the freight transportation, the aquatic product and the water fishery base and sea salt factory. Nampho apple is a famous national product.
