Merchtem

Merchtem is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Peizegem, Brussegem, Hamme and Merchtem proper. On January 1, 2005 Merchtem had a total population of 14,663. The total area is 36.72 km² which gives a population density of 399.34 inhabitants per km².
