Marianao

Marianao is a city of La Habana Province, Cuba, 6 miles southwest of the city of Havana, with which it is connected by the Marianao railway. As of 1989, the city has a population of 133,016. Marianao is on a range of hills about 1500 ft. above sea level, is noted for its salubrious climate, and is mainly a place of residence for the families of prosperous business men of Havana. On the neighboring coast is Marianao Beach, a popular bathing resort. The city dates from about 1830.
