Liling (Chinese: 醴陵; pinyin: LÇ?lÃng) is a county-level city of Zhuzhou in the northeastern part of Hunan province of the People's Republic of China. Liling is about 5 miles from Jiangxi province.
Liling city, located in the eastern part of Hunan province, governs 36 towns and villages, 4 subdistrict offices. It covers and area of 2157 sq with population of 1 million.
The transportation in Liling is convenient; Zhegan and Licha railway pass through it while national road 106, 320 traverse west and eastward. In the city roads extend in all directions and Liu river goes through the middle of it. Liling is rich in resources and has been reputed as "city of ceramic" and "hometown of firework" ever since. Colorful vitreous enamel from Liling is well known for its whiteness, brightness, thinness and sound of chime and is praised as "the summit of east ceramic craft". The mineral resources discovered in Liling are gold, silver, uranium，iron, manganese, tungsten, lead, zinc and porcelain clay tec. The reserves of gold and porcelain clay are rich and can be exploited in vast amount for application.
Liling's mountains are steep and water is wandering with abundant culture elements concealed therein. The Xiannong Altar where Mao Zedong conducted a survey of the peasant movements of Hunan province, Dongfu Temple, the Former Residence of the outstanding leader of Chinese worker movement Li Lisan, the Statue of Zuo Quan General, the Tomb of Red Buddhism Zen, the Tomb of the famous revolutionist Ni Taiyi of the Revolution of 1911 etc. are evaluated as key provincial protection unit of cultural relic.
