Kastav

Kastav is little historical town about 10 km northwest of Rijeka and about 5 km northeast of Opatija in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Built on an isolated hill 365 meters above sea level, it has population of about 34,000 people. Its historic center, many parks and big forest are atractive to foreign visitors and hikers. The historic walled town containing a church dating from the 13th century, hosts an international music festival each summer.

Because of it unusual but good position Kastav has real hot summer and very cold winter, during summer temerature can raise to 37 gradus sometimes even more. In summer in evening time Kastav wood is crowded of walkers who came on fresh air in wood and of sport athletes who have their summer break but want stay in good shape. In winter one of first place in Kvarner region that will become white of snow is exactly Kastav. Industry in Kastav isn`t developed because citizens of Kastav are focused on work in near-by Rijeka and Opatija, but still there are private stores and companies lead by well situated people. Estates in Kastav are very worthy because of its excellent position for life and magnificant view on Kvarner and many island in Kvarner region. With faster acessing Croatia in European Union, intrests for estates in that part of Croatia are growing also capital from companies abroad already started cominhg in this city and much likely prediction are that Kastav will counting in 2012 year 200 000 citizens and will be much bigger than domestic people are used to. Sport and recreation in Kastav are well known in Croatia and in counties near-by like Slovenia and Italy. Kastav has successful sport teams in volleyball, handball, little-soccer and most successful basketball, Croatia has many good basketball players which came from that little city. In near future Kastav will get new ultra-modern sport-gym.
