Château-Richer is a city in the Capitale-Nationale region of Québec, located on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River east of Quebec City. It is the seat for the Côte-de-Beaupré Regional County Municipality.
The first rural parish in New France was established here in 1678 and many of the oldest families in Québec first settled here.
The town is situated on Quebec route 138, on a section known as the King's Road (Chemin du Roy). The main street of Château-Richer, known as the chemin Royal, was one of the first roads built in North America.
