Botucatu

Botucatu is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. Its coordinates are 22°53′09″S, 48°26′42″W. The population in 2003 is 117,308 and the area is 1486.4 km² The elevation is 804 m. It is located 224.8 Km from the Capital of the State (São Paulo) and 898 Km the Capital of Brazil (Brasília).

The region has humid-subtropical weather, with dry winters and hot summers. During winter the temperature rarely falls below 2º C. During most of the year, mainly at night, there is a breeze coming from the surrounding mountain systems.

Also, the area is known for its good school system, including a state medical school.
