Alamo Heights is a city located in Bexar County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 7,319.

Alamo Heights is located at 29°28'58" North, 98°28'2" West (29.482881, -98.467271).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²). 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

As of the census of 2000, there are 7,319 people, 3,197 households, and 1,819 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,527.5/km² (3,964.9/mi²). There are 3,460 housing units at an average density of 722.1/km² (1,874.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 93.80% White, 0.56% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 2.81% from other races, and 1.64% from two or more races. 13.55% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,197 households out of which 28.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.1% are non-families. 38.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.16 and the average family size is 2.91.

In the city the population is spread out with 22.3% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 82.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 75.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $64,688, and the median income for a family is $86,897. Males have a median income of $60,527 versus $37,089 for females. The per capita income for the city is $45,640. 3.5% of the population and 1.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.7% of those under the age of 18 and 6.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line. Since 2000 the homes in Alamo Heights have appreciated much faster than most homes in San Antonio. The median home price for Alamo Heights in 2005 was $399,000, with some houses in the area being valued at over $1,000,000.
