KNOWLEDGE OF Adwick le Street

Adwick le Street is a small town in South Yorkshire, England. It is situated a few miles to the north west of Doncaster, and is within the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster.

The earliest references to the town are found in Domesday Book (1086), and the parish church of St. Lawrence dates from the 12th century. The town derives its name from the great north British Roman routeway, Ermine Street.

Adwick-le-Street was an urban district of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974.

Within the area of the former Adwick-Le-Street Urban District Council lies the model village of Woodlands.
