Adare (Irish: Ã?th Dara) is a town in County Limerick, Republic of Ireland, located on the River Maigue in the midwest of Ireland. Limerick city is nearby, with the N21 road to Kerry passing through the town.
Often termed a heritage town, the town is very popular with tourists, due to its good image, many attractions, fine accommodation and good marketing. Adare boasts of a castle, a priory and an abbey in the town as well as one or two other historic churches. The main street combines vernacular Irish architecture with the more English sensibility of the buildings and infrastructure purpose-built for the Dunraven estate. Examples of the latter architectural forms include the thatched cottages near the entrance to Adare Manor – one of the area's grand hotels, whose past visitors include Bill Clinton,John Travolta and Tiger Woods. There is also at least one 18 hole golf course on the outskirts of the town.
A railway line to Foynes passes through the town, but Adare Railway Station has been closed for decades.
